    Spring 2021 Registration POSTPONED

By Brent Sadler 01/04/2021, 1:30pm CST

Due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in the area, Spring 2021 registration and season have been postponed until further notice.

Please see the following message from FWASA President Jeremy Morrison for further details.

    Hi FWASA Members,

The FWASA board continues to monitor the current public health situation with regard to COVID-19.  We continue to encourage the safety measures of washing hands regularly, wearing face covering in public, and limiting interactions with people outside your regular circle of influence.

Based on most of the data that we have reviewed, current conditions 1.5 to 2 times worse than conditions were in July 2020 (depending on the metric used), when we made the decision to delay the start of Fall 2020 registration and shorten the Fall 2020 season.  We still believe that was the correct decision at the time, and fortunately things worked out for us to be able to safely provide a Fall 2020 with only a handful of COVID-19 exposures and game postponements.

Based on the information we’ve reviewed, we are going to delay the start of Spring 2021 registration and the start of the season.  This will most likely mean shortening the season (and consequently lowering the registration fee as well).

One of the critical issues facing Tarrant County right now is hospital bed occupancy.  The state metric for "reopening" is a COVID hospitalization rate of 15% or below for 14 consecutive days. Over the weekend, this rate was 23.6% statewide and 28% in Tarrant County.  The FWASA board has decided to delay registration start until a downward trend of 20% or fewer hospitalizations can be sustained for at least 7 days in Tarrant County.  At that point, we will then be able to determine the length of the season and appropriate registration fee, and open registration.  Hopefully, the rate would continue to decrease and then we can start games when the rate drops to 15% or below.

I know we are ready to get back out on the field playing soccer again, and we will provide that opportunity as soon as we believe it is safe to do so.  If you would like to review some health data for yourself, I would encourage you to check out the following webpages:

Thank you all!  Please continue to stay safe and limit the spread of the virus.
